The CHFS Office of Medical Cannabis publishes the official open-dispensary list. As of program launch and the first months of operation, 8 of 48 licensed dispensaries have opened. Geographic concentration:

Kentucky Cannabis Online Order & Curbside
Most KY-licensed dispensaries support online order-ahead. The platforms vary by operator (Dutchie, Jane, Leafly, Weedmaps, custom). Workflow:
- Confirm KY medical cardholder status. Walk-ins without a valid Kentucky medical marijuana card or visiting-patient registration cannot purchase.
- Browse the dispensary’s online menu. Add product to cart.
- Place the order — most dispensaries hold orders 24–48 hours.
- Drive to the dispensary. Show medical card + government ID.
- Pay (cash, debit, on-premises ATM; some operators accept cashless ATM via PIN debit).
- Pickup at the counter or via curbside if the dispensary offers it.

Kentucky Cannabis Delivery
SB 47 authorizes cannabis delivery to qualified KY medical cardholders, but the regulatory implementation has been slow. As of mid-2026:
- Statewide cannabis delivery is not yet a widespread feature of the program.
- A few operators have begun localized delivery within their county or metro area.
- The Cabinet’s implementation of full delivery regulations (driver licensing, vehicle requirements, secure transport, METRC tracking integration) is still rolling out.

Kentucky Cannabis Menu — What’s Actually Available
SB 47 imposes specific product-form restrictions. The KY menu categories:
- Flower — flower is allowed (the legislative debate over "no flower" was won by patient advocates). 35% THC potency cap. Sold in 1g, 1/8 oz (3.5g), 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1 oz packages.
- Vaporizer cartridges — 510-thread compatible. 70% THC concentrate cap. 0.5g and 1g sizes.
- Oral solutions, tinctures, capsules — precise dosing for medical use. 10mg per dose typical.
- Topicals — balms, creams, salves. No psychoactive effect.
- Edibles — 10mg THC per serving cap, 100mg per package cap. Gummies, chocolates, mints. The 10mg-per-serving rule is consumer-protective and prevents accidental over-consumption.
- Concentrates — live resin, rosin, badder. 70% THC cap.
Smoking is NOT permitted. SB 47 explicitly requires vaporization rather than combustion. Patients are expected to use vaporizers (dry herb or concentrate) rather than rolling and smoking joints. The "no smoking" rule is one of the most restrictive among medical states — though enforcement at the consumption end is necessarily light.

Prices reflect the supply-constrained early market. Approximate ranges as of the first months of operation:

KY cannabis tax is 6% (sales tax only; no separate excise). Compared to states with high excise (Washington 37%, Illinois 25–35%), Kentucky’s tax is moderate. As supply expands, prices should soften — the current pricing reflects shortage premiums.
KY Cheapest Dispensary & Best Dispensary
With only 8 dispensaries open and tight supply, the "cheapest" and "best" KY dispensaries are largely determined by:
- Geographic access — the dispensary closest to you is usually the most practical, regardless of marginal price differences.
- In-stock product — the dispensary with what you want today is the right answer.
- Online menu accuracy — some operators update menus in near-real-time; others are 12–24 hours stale.
- Patient program perks — some dispensaries offer first-purchase discounts, veteran discounts, senior discounts, or loyalty programs.
The competitive pricing dynamic that exists in mature markets (Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma) is not yet present in Kentucky. As more dispensaries open and supply catches up to demand, comparison shopping will become more meaningful.

"Best" rankings are early. The Cabinet’s licensed cultivator/processor list is small enough that most dispensaries carry a similar slate of brands.
